An elegant form of the game dating back to the 16th century, with parish records revealing effervescent tournaments between ecclesiastical and civil parish leaders. There are several obvious variations from the standard game: motions from the floor are only allowed after Swiss Cottage has been played; a slow player may be declared Co-opted by the player to his/her left and release shall require a written request to resume play that is resolved by secret ballot of the remaining players; Anyone Tooting Upminster is disqualified.
